The Utah Economic Nursing Scholarship Fund is designed to support Nightingale College learners who have an estimated graduation date between Summer 2024 semester and Summer 2026 semester from their program of study, who reside in the state of Utah, and have a financial need to matriculate. The purpose of this fund is to increase access and opportunity in matriculating from nursing education programs to increase the state of Utah’s health equity and build the nursing workforce in underserved communities statewide.  

This scholarship fund is made possible by the generous donations from the State of Utah and the Miner Foundation.

Fall 2024 Awards: 

• There is a total of $55,500 available for the Spring 2025 cycle. 
• The goal is to award at least 5 scholarships per cycle. The individual scholarship amount may vary depending on individual financial need of each applicant and availability of funds. There is no minimum amount guaranteed for each scholarship award. 

Fund Eligibility: To be considered for the Utah Economic Nursing Scholarship from Nightingale Foundation, applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria. 

• Be currently enrolled as a learner at Nightingale College, with a graduation date between Spring 2025 semester and Summer 2026 semester. 
• Be a current resident of the state of Utah and have plans to work in the state of Utah as a nurse post-graduation. 
• Demonstrate financial need.
   

Fund Restrictions

• Scholarship funds only available to learners who are juniors and seniors in their program of choice, reside in the state of Utah, and plan to work in the state of Utah as a nurse post-graduation. 
• Learners must maintain a passing GPA to accept scholarship funds. 
• Learners may reapply for different cycles (future semesters) however, only one award per learner is permitted. For example, if a learner applies in Summer 2024 and is awarded, that learner would be ineligible to reapply. 
• Scholarship funds are not paid out until after add/drop period each semester and will be paid directly to the college on behalf of the learner. 
• Awarded learners must work with their Learner Funding Advisor to apply funds to tuition/fees. Funds may not be used for any other educational expenses and may not be provided to the learner as a reimbursement. Learners should consult their Learner Funding Advisor about options to decrease their Title IV loans, thus decreasing their student debt post-graduation, if applicable.  
• Scholarship funds may only be applied to tuition and fees and will not be distributed to the learner after withdrawal. If upon withdrawal, the available financial aid creates a negative ledger balance, the excess funds will be returned to the Foundation. 

Fund Application Timeline: 

• Applications open on January 10, 2025 and close on February 28, 2025 at 11:59PM MST. 
• Review committee conducts reviews during March-April.
• Awardees will be announced by the end of April 2025.

The Learner Disaster Relief Fund is offered to current Nightingale College Learners who are experiencing or have been affected by a current disaster and need financial assistance to be able to continue their respective nursing program at Nightingale College. When disaster strikes, Nightingale College learners may not have access to their everyday support systems, resources, and basic needs. Yet, even in the face of adversity, many learners want to continue their education and give back to their communities as future nurses.

Fund Eligibility: To be considered for the Learner Disaster Relief Fund from the Nightingale Foundation, applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria. 

• Be currently enrolled as a learner at Nightingale College
• Be currently experiencing a disaster*. 
• Have a financial need for support due to the effects of aforementioned disaster. Examples of financial needs include tuition (due to in ability to pay for basic resources), basic resources (shelter/housing, utilities, food, supplies, sanitation, transportation, first aid, hospital fees (due to accidents or issues incurred during disaster), emergency blankets and clothing, and other essentials. 

*Disaster is defined as one or any of the following: A serious disruption of the functioning of a community or a society at any scale. An unforeseen event that overwhelms local capacity, necessitating external assistance. It results in significant damage, destruction, and human suffering. An event where a community faces severe danger and incurs significant losses to persons or property, taxing available resources. An event that results in great harm, damage, or death. 

Examples of disasters may include (but are not limited to): 

• Hurricanes
• Tornados
• Earthquakes
• Floods
• Fires (house or wild)
• Other Natural Disasters

Fund Budget: Varies

• This fund will remain open and available for applications at any time. Funding to be disbursed as funds are available and at the discretion of Nightingale Foundation. 

Fund Restrictions

• Funds are only available to learners attending Nightingale College that are experiencing a disaster. 
• Nightingale Foundation has the right to refuse an application if eligibility conditions are not met. 

All scholarship awardees will be required to sign an Award Agreement and provide Nightingale Foundation with impact stories post award. 

The Shneyder & Kirk Reaching the Impossible Scholarship Fund is designed to support learners currently in their foundational courses (Math and English 90) and are at risk of not matriculating into a nursing program due to lack of financial resources. Becoming a successful nurse requires tenacity, drive, passion, and resiliency. This fund aims to support learners who embody these qualities and need support to continue their educational journey at Nightingale College post foundational courses. 

Fund Awards: 3 learners for Spring 2025 in the amount of $2,000 each.

Fund Eligibility: To be considered for Shneyder & Kirk Reaching the Impossible Scholarship from the Nightingale Foundation, applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria. 

• Be currently enrolled in English 90 and/or Math 90 during Spring Semester 2025. Learners must successfully complete their foundational courses in order to be awarded the scholarship but must apply while in the semester they are enrolled in English 90 and/or Math 90.  
• Demonstrate financial need; and
• Exemplify tenacity, grit, and resiliency. 

Fund Restrictions

• Scholarship funds will only be awarded to learners who have successfully completed the foundational courses in their first academic year. 
• Scholarship funds are not paid out until foundation courses are complete. 
• Eligible learners must apply for the scholarship while still enrolled in their foundational courses. Awarded funds will be applied to the following two semesters and disbursed after the expiration of the add/drop period in each of the semesters in $1,000 installments. 
• Learners are not eligible to apply once past their foundation courses, no reapplying is permitted.
• Funding will be disbursed to learners in two installments, one per semester. If a learner withdraws from the program, funds will be reallocated accordingly. Scholarship funds may only be applied to tuition and fees and will not be distributed to the learner after withdrawal. If upon withdrawal, the available financial aid creates a negative ledger balance, the excess funds will be returned to the Foundation. 

Application Timeline: 

• Applications accepted from 1/10/2025 - 3/16/2025 at 11:59PM MST. No late applications will be accepted. 
• Applications are reviewed and scored by the committee during Week 12 - Week 14 each semester. 
• Scholarship award announcement will happen no later than Friday of Week 14 each semester (subject to change).  

All scholarship awardees will be required to sign an Award Agreement and provide Nightingale Foundation with impact stories post award. 

The purpose of this application is to submit applications for consideration of Nurse Practitioner scholarship award from the Nightingale Foundation. The Nightingale Foundation awards scholarships for prospective and current students earning a degree in nursing at Nightingale College.
 

Eligibility: To be considered for an Nurse Practitioner scholarship from the Nightingale Foundation, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria. 

• Must be a current Nurse Practitioner Learner (either the MSN FNP Program or the Master of Science in Nursing Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - MSN PMHNP Program) in their advanced assessment course – MSN 588. 
• Must be in good academic standing (3.0 or higher GPA as of MSN 588 course).

*Nightingale Foundation understands that academic standing can shift during master degree programs. As such, all learners who are in the MSN 588 are encouraged to apply and final eligibility will be determined by week 15.

Awards: Two scholarships will be awarded each calendar year, in the amount of $1,000 each. Distribution is as follows: 

• $500 will be disbursed the Monday following the White Coat Ceremony to Nightingale College on the learner’s behalf. 
• The remaining $500 will be disbursed the following semester, by Friday of Week 1 to Nightingale College on the learner’s behalf. 

Scholarship awards may be used for tuition, fees, travel, supplies, and any other educational expenses the learner deems necessary to complete their degree. Learners must work with their Learner Funding Advisor at Nightingale College to manage their funds. 

Application Instructions & Deadlines: Applications are being accepted between January 10, 2025 and February 9, 2025 at 11:59PM. Eligible learners can apply via the application in Submittable. No applications will be accepted after February 9, 2025 at 11:59PM. 

Please complete all required fields fully and to the best of your knowledge. This application is what the NP Scholarship Review Committee reviews to determine scholarship awards. Please be sure to represent yourself in a way that the committee can understand who you are and how you plan to elevate through nursing education.
